Cultures of MRU Film Festival

SAMRU is excited to present its first Cultures of MRU (CMRU) Film Festival, but with a virtual twist. We hope to provide a platform that aims to share our various cultures and create dialogue, awareness and understanding, promoting cooperation, diversity, and friendship on campus. The festival will screen will feature two full-length feature films followed by a sequence of discussions. A $50 Amazon gift card will be drawn for participants at each screening!

Motivated by the desire to protect their homes, these young people are asking questions about the issues they observe in their communities, and proposing innovative solutions to fix some of the most complex environmental issues facing humanity today – right in their own backyards. (Documentary).

An intimate portrait of a moment in time: China, New Year’s holiday travel, 130 million factory workers migrating from city factory jobs to the rural towns where their families await their yearly visit. (Documentary, drama). 

Please note, there are two separate zoom events for each screening which means participants attending both films will just need to leave one Zoom event and log-in to the corresponding one to watch the second film. The Zoom links will be released to participants after visit the Hoovie Registration page (Inventing Tomorrow) and the Hoovie Registration page (Last Train Home).
