Navigating Hookup Culture can be awkward and uncomfortable, which is one reason why SAMRU is hosting its 3rd annual Sexpo Week and is offering two free, virtual workshops featuring activities and education around sexual health and sexuality. In these workshops, you will learn how communication, consent, and safe sex practices can help make navigating hookup culture a breeze.

The two Sexpo Week Workshops are done in collaboration with workshop hosts from Venus Envy. Venus Envy is a Canadian sex shop and bookstore that values inclusive sex education and believes that everyone should have the right to accurate information, shame-free exploration, and consensual pleasure.

Sexpo Week Virtual Workshop: Erotic Talk – Talking Dirty for Everyone

The first workshop will take place on Tuesday, October 25th from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, hosted by Dan from Venus Envy over Zoom. The topic is Erotic Talk – if you’re looking for tips on how to communicate what you want in the bedroom, this workshop will give you ideas on how to make talking about sex just as great as doing it.

Sexpo Week Virtual Workshop – How to Hook Up

The first workshop is happening on Wednesday, October 26th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, hosted by Jaley from Venus Envy over Zoom. This workshop will focus on how to comfortably and consensually navigate hooking up and will discuss online dating, pick-up lines, confidence, and communication.

Event – Sex Toy Bingo

Sex Toy Bingo will conclude the week on October 27th! Hosted by Ivy La Fleur, a local Burlesque artist, along with co-host Janet Miller from MRU Wellness Services. Sex Toy Bingo will be held in person at Wyckham House. Doors open at 7:30 pm, and the game will run from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm. This event has limited space and is first come, first served, so make sure to arrive early to get a seat! Entry is free, and this is an 18+ event – please bring a valid piece of government-issued I.D.
