Last Class Bash is Coming!
That’s right: the 8th annual Last Class Bash, the biggest party of the year, is just a few short weeks away. You may be studying hard right now, but before you know it it’ll be time to say goodbye to another year at MRU. It’s all going down April 15, so get ready to make some memories with 1,000 of your closest friends and go out with a Bash!
LCB sells out every year, so make sure you get your tickets early! You can pick them up starting today at the Hub or SAMRU Reception. The event is 18+, and you’ll need your student ID to purchase tickets.
And now for the headliners (drumroll)…
The Wet Secrets
The Wet Secrets are a five-piece rock’n’roll dance band that plays the kind of music you could expect to hear if The Stranglers piggybacked Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass through the Rose Parade. Swampy basslines, primal drumming, dancing ladies with brassy hornstacks, keys, congas & vocal harmonies galore. Formed on a dare by Lyle Bell, Trevor Anderson and Kim Rackel, the bass and horn-heavy group have gone on to take Canada’s music scene by storm, winning first place in the inaugural Peak Performance Project Alberta in 2015 and taking home the $100,953.00 prize.
Drum N DJ
Drum N DJ are the dynamic duo of Brett Jones and DJ Kav. Linoleum floors, wooden spoons and Tefal were the mediums Brett Jones manipulated as a child to express his innate ability to create. Music and specifically drums were and are a part of his soul. It was this passion for music that drove Brett to bring his talent to the world. Incomparable speed and precision behind the drums combined with an original style enable Brett to lend his abilities to countless genres. Radio listeners will know DJ Kav from the 5 O’Clock Mixdown, Calgary’s #1 mix show on 90.3 AMP Radio. To superstar DJs around the world and many artists that come to Calgary, Kav is known simply as the guy that gets their parties started whenever they’re in town. Together, the crowd-pleasing Drum N DJ have played stellar parties in Calgary, across Canada, Cayman Islands and several dates in Jamaica.
Mitch Belot Band
Mitch Belot entertains with his swampy story telling style and modern rock flare. He hooks audiences with his powerful, smoky voice, and gets them on their feet by incorporating fast tempos and heavy grooves. While he is first and foremost a humble student of the blues, Mitch adds a taste of rock to the naturally ear pleasing sound that permeates his repertoire.
