Tuesday Night Live!

By Dawn Linnemoller

Featured in FFWD, Exclaim!, Vue Weekly, Impose Magazine and many other publications, Lab Coast has been described as a snappy local band that understands how to leave their audience wanting more when they finish a set. On February 5th, fans of SAMRU’s The Hub bar and restaurant will have a chance to check out Lab Coast for themselves as a part of The Hub’s continuing effort to expose MRU students, staff, and faculty to fresh local musical talent.

Lab Coast is able to craft seemingly effortlessly appealing pop songs, with catchy, charming harmonies and carefree, memorable lyrics. Lab Coast consists of Dadge on drums, SSS on guitar and backing vocals, Dave handling lead vocals, and Noah on the bass guitar.

Following Lab Coast will be Astral Swans, another Calgary musical artist headed by songwriter Matthew Swann. Astral Swans released a 4-track digital album through Bandcamp in September 2012, and the album was tracked by SAMRU’s Production Coordinator Rena Kozak. Astral Swans is described as a 90s twist on a 60s psychedelic vibe.

“Live Music Tuesdays is a fantastic chance for MRU students to check out a selection of amazing local artists, playing for them, for free” commented Programming & Events Manager Joanna Pesta. There is no cover charge for MRU students with valid ID, and the cover charge for guests is a very affordable $5.00.

The next Live Music Tuesday will be February 12th featuring Rae Spoon. Live Music Tuesdays are for an 18+ only audience, and guests are encouraged to find a safe way home and to avoid drinking and driving.
