With great support from the Mount Royal community, students from the Jazz Performance Credit program continue to take the stage every Friday in The Hub from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. “The musicians returned for the winter 2013 semester on January 11th, and they’ll play The Hub until their final show on April 5th” commented Programming Manager Joanna Pesta, who first brought the musicians and The Hub together in the fall semester.
Apart from a break for February’s Reading Week and an upcoming break for Easter on March 29th, the student ensembles have regularly taken the stage with the same dedication, professionalism, and musicianship as the professional musicians who have taken The Hub stage on the regular Live Music Tuesday nights.
“There aren’t many better ways to compensate for anti-social behavior and stress during the week [than] by listening to some sexy tunes in a dimly lit room” commented Miranda Holliday-Brookwell in a recent article in The Reflector. “Jazz in The Hub is a great way to relax at the end of the week” added Pesta “plus it is a great way to experience and support live local music”.
