The unofficial results of SAMRU’s 2013 elections are in! Thank you to everyone who voted and who stepped up and ran for a position!
This year’s elections were a great success, with 15% voter turnout (up 2% from 2012) and every Executive position contested. Our number of online votes almost doubled from last year, totalling 861 over seven days. Our total number of voters was 1748.
“The elections process enhances SAMRU’s legitimacy when your elected representatives speak as the collective voice of our members,” says current President Kaylene McTavish. “Thank you to everyone who participated and who spread the word!”
SAMRU congratulates our 2013 – 14 Executive Committee, who will officially take office on May 15th, 2013:
Sadiq Valliani, President
Addie Asuchak, Vice-President Student University Affairs
Missy Chareka, Vice-President Student External Affairs
Tristan Smyth, Vice-President Student Academic Affairs
SAMRU also congratulates our newly elected Students’ Council Governors!
The elections results will be finalized following the completion of the seven-day appeals period. If you’re interested in learning more, or running in next year’s elections, check out SAMRU’s Elections site!
