Local live music took over the stage of The Hub last semester, and in the winter 2013 semester you can expect more of the same. Rad local bands are already lined up to take the stage and work with SAMRU’s crew to bring you a great (and free!) night out. With no cover charge for MRU students, The Hub is a great place to listen to the bands that are on the verge of breaking big (and a few bands that have already secured indie success…). If you want to bring a guest who doesn’t go to MRU (or if you just forgot your ID one night) the cost is still super-low; $5.00 will get non-MRU students in too, so there’s plenty of cash leftover for a few drinks or a plate of The Hub’s awesome wings.

The first bands of the new semester are Reijo and Centuri on January 8th, and The Hub has some other great bands coming up too – keep an eye out for artists like Sykamore, The Mighty Alliance, Jaynova, Astronomy Ground, Tru-ly, Rae Spoon, Labcoast, Astral Swans and more… Two bands will perform most nights, with the first starting at 8:30pm and the second will take the stage between 9:30 and 10:00pm.

Reijo offers up alternative rock with a country vibe and split their time between Redono Beach, California and right here in Calgary. Centuri features Calgarian musicians as well and plays alternative/modern rock and pop along with acoustic tunes.

“The Hub is a great live music venue right here on campus” explained Pesta. “We have top-notch production, an intimate stage, and amazing sound quality compared to most other live music venues within the city.” Pesta went on to elaborate that Live Music Tuesdays would give The Hub an opportunity to showcase local talent, including talent from MRU students when possible.
