Each year the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University runs the Season of Caring – a way for the Mount Royal community and all of our supporters to help MRU students during what is frequently one of the most stressful times of year.

Along with progressive stress-reduction programs timed with the exam period, SAMRU’s Season of Caring directly addresses the holiday stresses students feel. Students sign up to receive gifts from generous donors, and receive them anonymously, greatly reducing their stress, and boosting their holiday spirit.

Pick up a Season of Caring gift tag and help support a student through this stressful time of the year. Tags are available at the Peer Support Centre December 8-10, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The last day to drop off gift hamper gifts is December 12th, 2014, which will ensure that every student who participated in the program will have a happier holiday thanks to your generosity.

When there are more gift tags than gifts donated, SAMRU uses the Candy Canes for Pocket Change donations in order to do additional shopping for welcome holiday gifts. Gifts range from warm winter mittens to gas cards, from children’s toys to grocery cards.

We’re asking our readers to support the Season of Caring by donating to our fundraising in order to ensure that MRU students have a gift to open this holiday season. To contribute, please visit and click the “Donate Now” button.

Cash and gift donations will be eligible for tax receipts, please bring your gift receipt to the Peer Support Centre on the 2nd floor of Wyckham House and we’ll make arrangements to provide you with a tax receipt.
