Like others on campus, the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University is saddened and disappointed by the staff layoffs at MRU that happened as a result of provincial budget cuts.

The Students’ Association delivers a number of peer-based student services to support students and as such has worked closely with key people and various teams within the Student Affairs and Campus Life department to ensure a seamless and cohesive experience for students. We don’t yet know the full impact of the cuts, but we hope they won’t directly affect students.

In the meantime, SAMRU will continue to work with and support Mount Royal where possible to ensure the provision of seamless services to students.

As always, SAMRU remains committed to representing and advocating on behalf of students for an accessible and quality post-secondary education system in Alberta.
