For immediate release: SAMRU remains committed to diversity

The Students’ Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU) is aware of an opinion piece recently published in the Vancouver Sun written by Mount Royal University instructor Mark Hecht.

SAMRU wants to assure our members that we remain committed to our stated values, including the statement that “diversity makes our community stronger and more vibrant”. SAMRU will continue to serve, support, and advocate for the best university experience possible on behalf of all of our members, the students of MRU.

If you think you have been discriminated against on campus or have been negatively affected by this or other similar situations, we encourage you to reach out to the MRU Human Rights Advisor from the office of Campus Equity & Meaningful Inclusion (C201 – 403.440.5156) or speak to a Counsellor at Wellness Services (U216 – 403.440.6362).
