National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Events in Calgary

A public ceremony and moment of silence at Fort Calgary on Friday will take place in honour of the children who never returned home.
The event is open to all and will be live-streamed on the city’s website starting at 10:00 am on September 30th.

Watch the film “The Road” to learn about the effects of residential schools and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG).
This event is being put on by Stardale Women’s Group at Grace Presbyterian Church on September 30th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

The Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth and Colouring It Forward Reconciliation Society are holding their annual Pokaiks Commemorative Walk and IndigiTRAILS: Remembering Our Children.
The event will take place on September 30th in Prince’s Island Park from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm.

SAMRU Cultural Inclusion Centre (Room Z203)

The Cultural Inclusion Centre (CIC) hosts programs and events that serve both to allow people to share their experiences and to reflect. SAMRU’s Cultural and Indigenous Inclusion programmer, Cory Cardinal, facilitates these programs and can provide additional support and resources for students.
