SAMRU’s Representation Executive Council (REC) is composed of four students, selected by the Student Governing Board (SGB) and elected by students to serve the interests of all SAMRU members.
SAMRU REC President, Tala Abu Hayyaneh, and SAMRU REC Vice President External Mariana Mejia Salazar, travelled to Ottawa for the Canadian Alliance of Student Association’s (CASA)’s Advocacy Week (Nov. 17–21), joining student leaders from across the country to push for change on the issues that matter most to you: housing affordability, student grants, and access to work-integrated learning.

For over 60 years, the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU) has believed the ultimate goal of all Mount Royal University students is academic success and personal achievement. SAMRU understands the importance of recognizing and honouring the non-academic and extra-curricular contributions of MRU students. So we’ve dedicated a day to give back to the exceptional individuals who are a part of the campus community – to the tune of $40,000 in scholarships at the SAMRU Awards, as a matter of fact.
