SEXPO Workshop STBBI Testing

In by James Windler

For this SEXPO Workshop, a nurse from Safelink will be testing for Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis C.

These are all considered to be STBBIs (sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections), aka STIs. This is done by collecting blood, pee, and swabs if necessary.

Regular testing is recommended for anyone sexually active, whether you have one or multiple partners! Testing is a quick, easy way to keep yourself and your community safe! Knowing your status is sexy!

FAQ:

What if I test positive? If you test positive a nurse will get in contact with you to connect you with the appropriate treatment. Public health will be notified so they can follow up with any partners who may need to be tested and treated.

Will it be awkward? Our nurses strive to create a sex positive and trauma informed environment where you can choose how much or how little you wish to disclose. You know what’s awkward? Untreated syphilis.

Do I need to bring anything? Have your provincial health care number available.
