SAMRU’s REC team is comprised of four students, selected by the Student Governing Board (SGB) and elected by students to serve the interests of all SAMRU members (MRU credit students). From issues on campus all the way to the federal government, REC is the frontline for all things student advocacy.

The balmy weather of May has finally arrived, and with it comes a new year of student representation. Your 2024-25 Representation Executive Council’s terms have officially begun!
Polls for this year’s elections opened on March 27, with over 300 students casting their vote. Students who requested a religious exception due to required observations during the time of the AGM were granted advance polls in the days prior to the elections.
But without further ado, here are your new Representation Executive Council and Student Governing Board members for the 2024-2025 term.
Are you interested in how SAMRU is run or simply want to learn about the developments and direction your Students’ Association will be taking over the next year? No matter how involved you are with SAMRU, you will be impacted by what happens at the AGM. It’s not an exaggeration to say this is the most crucial day of the year in regard to SAMRU’s operations as we elect our next group of Student Governors and Representatives.Â

While you were hard at the grind and enjoying a well-deserved reading week, your Representation Executive Council (REC) has been hard at work, advocating for changes and improvements in and around campus that matter most to you, our members!Â
