Tax Clinic

Need help filing your taxes? SAMRU offers a free tax clinic where trained student volunteers complete and file tax returns at no charge!

SAMRU’s free tax clinic program is over for 2025 but will return in 2026. If you are looking for a free tax service, you can visit the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program’s website, or email us at tax@samru.ca.

SAMRU's free tax clinic program is no longer accepting tax appointments. You can search for other free tax clinics in Calgary (or across Canada) by visiting the Canada Revenue Agency's webpage here.

Thank you to those who used our service this year, and we will reopen again on March 2nd, 2026

SAMRU’s free tax clinic program will operate from March 3rd to April 30th, 2025. We will be providing appointments in either an online or in-person format. Online appointments will take place via Google Meet while in-person appointments will be held in the Flex Space Room Z301, located on the 3rd floor of Wyckham House.

Please note that our volunteers can assist with filing simple tax returns for students, however, we are not professional accountants and therefore cannot provide tax advice. If you have any questions about our program, please contact us at tax@samru.ca.

Even if you do not have any income, you are still encouraged to file a tax return as you may be eligible for various benefits or credits.

Students are asked to come prepared to their appointments with all their required tax forms and receipts. We will not file your taxes without a physical government ID and complete documents. You can find a list of the required tax forms and documents by clicking here.
