Indigenous Student Advisory Committee open to new applicants

Student committees are a great way for students looking to gain experience and become more involved with the student advocacy and representation activities at Mount Royal University.

Did you know that the SAMRU Representative Executive Council (REC) (President, VP Academic, VP of Student Affairs, and VP External) has a variety of student-led advisory committees? These committees work directly with members of the Representation Executive Council and provide them with valuable insights and assistance with their representation portfolios.

SAMRU is currently looking to add advisory members to the Indigenous Student Advisory Committee (ISAC) to provide periodic advisory support to the Representation Executive Council (REC) to strengthen their representational work and to make sure the voices of Indigenous students are actively represented in the advocacy and representation activities of the Council. REC has been directed by the Student Governing Board to represent student interests to Mount Royal University, external student organizations and all levels of government. The ISAC will advise REC members individually and collectively on issues that pertain to Indigenous students within these realms. This is a volunteer position with an awarded honorarium.

Please send a resume and cover letter outlining why you would be a good fit for this committee to president@samru.ca

What other ways can I get involved?

The Students’ Association offers tons of ways for you to get involved! If this isn’t the committee experience you’re looking for, you can find more available committee work with SAMRU. If you’re interested in other volunteer opportunities, you can learn more about volunteering here.
