Student reps get semester’s withdrawal date pushed forward

We know it is important for students to have additional flexibility in determining their ability to complete the semester in these unprecedented times. The Representation Executive Council has been advocating to Mount Royal University to extend the deadline to withdraw. We are happy to say that students’ concerns have been heard, and that my motion to postpone the withdrawal deadline for Winter 2020 has been approved through MRU’s General Faculties Council Executive Committee. I believe that this adjustment will help empower students to make a more informed decision after having time to explore what alternative delivery means for their courses.

The last day to withdraw is now Monday, April 6, 2020.

Before withdrawing from a course we encourage students to reach out to their instructor and/or an academic advisor to discuss their options. More information on withdrawing from a course can be found in MRU’s 2019-2020 Academic Calendar.

I would like to thank my fellow General Faculties Council Executive Committee members for actively working to support students during this stressful time.

Respectfully,

Nathan Lawley, Vice-President Academic
on behalf of the Representation Executive Council.
